New Mordançage Prints

Over the past couple months, I have been experimenting with the Mordançage process. Here are some of my first tests. More work to come in 2018 with an upcoming trip to Finland!

Analog V. Digital at Foley Gallery

Geotrope Opens at Alternator Centre

Postcard Cityscape

The photo doesn't interpret it so well, but this is a long panorama of cityscapes from postcards. It's made up of 5 panels and the total length is 15 feet. It will be in my Geotrope exhibition at Alternator Centre, opening at the end of the month!

Modern Supernatural

Colour Images from my last shoot at High Park. Working title for this project is "Modern Supernatural." I am thinking about ways to pair these images with some version of my collage works.

Postcard Collages

I have been working on some new collage pieces involving imagery from postcards. I'm interested in the cheesy, idealized ways that places are represented in postcards and other souvenir items. With these collages, I am trying to exaggerate the cheap "magic" of postcards by conglomerating them into absurd scenes. These are some in progress shots in my studio.

Possible Sightings 2

I have been shooting some images that could potentially be a continuation of my Sightings project. Examining what the images look like when people are staring into the sky, but there is nothing there, as opposed to the previous work, where campy UFOs are in the sky. Not sure about it yet, still think it needs another element added.

New Version of Road Composite Photo

I tried doing my Geotrope road composite photo the same way I do the Urban Mirages photos, with Red, Green and Blue components. This is 18 road photos:

Holga Panoramas

This is not a serious project, but I recently developed some rolls of film I took with my Holga on my road trip last summer/fall. I like to advance the film halfway, taking 3 shots over 2 squares of film, to make these landscape panoramas.

A potential still image accompaniment to my zoetrope. This is a mix of 25 photos taken on the roadside all the way West-East-back West.

Urban Mirages

New images from my recent trip for my Urban Mirages series (formerly Public Clocks). This project examines urban and touristic landscapes, using red, green and blue filters on black and white film to create colour images. The process was developed by the early 20th century Russian photographer Prokudin-Gorskii, and is adapted here to emphasize the chaos of modern urban scenery. It is also an inquiry into why people gather in certain places.
