A possible new series I am working on. Transplanting natural materials from one place to another to create site-specific installations. This is a "sand rainbow," made up of sand from Bighorn and Yellowstone National Parks, Prince Edward Island and Iceland.

Vancouver artist Ella Morton was recognized as one of Canada’s top emerging photographers in this months issue of Photolife magazine. ViewPoint is pleased to present “Sightings,” Morton’s series of staged pinhole photographs depicting scenes of people witnessing mysterious phenomena from UFOs and other unexplainable happenings.
Ella Morton is a Canadian visual artist living in Toronto. Her expedition-based practice has brought her to residencies and projects across Canada and the US as well as in Iceland, Denmark and Norway, exploring the relationship between landscape and mystery. She uses antiquated photographic technologies as a means of commenting on contemporary subject matter. Her work aims to provide insight into how human beings perceive a tension of the opposites – living in a quantifying, information-based culture and reflecting on the unquantifiable unknown.
